Sonus Ex-Machina is an experimental sonic laboratory created to explore the phenomenon of sound through a combination of arts-based-research, praxis and reflective writing.
Currently the Lab is exploring the (im)materiality of sound via phase-inversion and attempts to explore deep questions surrounding the boundaries between phenomena and the experiencing of them.
Phase 1: Feather 100Hz is the first in the series of works by Sonus Ex-Machina that is to be taken out of the laboratory setting for public display. The work invites the viewer to interact with an (almost) inaudible sound wave that they can feel but cannot touch or barely hear.
How does sound manifest itself? When does it exist and according to whom or what?
